Our History

Forecasted Africa was established in response to a growing need for evidence-driven, community-centered development approaches in Tanzania and the wider African context. Its history is rooted in practical engagement, learning, and gradual institutional growth rather than rapid expansion or single-project identity.

Forecasted Africa’s origins trace back to informal research activities, community dialogues, and youth-led initiatives conducted between 2017 and 2020 in Arusha District and nearby areas. During this period, the founding team was actively involved in supporting local discussions on education quality, environmental stewardship, public service delivery, and community participation in development planning. These early engagements revealed a consistent challenge: development interventions were often implemented without sufficient local data, coordination, or mechanisms for community feedback.

Between 2020 and 2022, these experiences were consolidated into a more structured organizational vision. Forecasted Africa began documenting community perspectives, conducting small-scale assessments, and experimenting with participatory approaches that combined research, dialogue, and accountability across sectors. Early internal reviews indicated that community-driven initiatives that integrated learning and feedback were more likely to sustain engagement, with participation rates in local forums increasing by an estimated 25–35 percent compared to conventional top-down approaches.

Formal organizational development followed, with Forecasted Africa defining its multi-thematic focus on research, governance, education, environmental sustainability, and social accountability. Rather than positioning itself as a direct service provider, the organization intentionally evolved as a knowledge and systems-strengthening platform, supporting communities and institutions to use evidence in decision-making.

From 2022 onwards, Forecasted Africa expanded its scope of work through structured programs, partnerships, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. The organization strengthened its internal research practices, developed clearer monitoring and learning processes, and aligned its work with national development priorities and relevant Sustainable Development Goals. During this phase, Forecasted Africa increased engagement with youth and community groups, recognizing that people under the age of 35 represent over 60 percent of Tanzania’s population and are central to long-term development outcomes.

Today, Forecasted Africa’s history reflects steady institutional learning and adaptation. The organization continues to build on its foundational principles of evidence, inclusion, accountability, and community ownership, positioning itself as a credible, locally grounded partner for development actors seeking sustainable and integrated solutions across multiple sectors.
