Speak Out
Lasting change is not achieved by services alone. It also requires speaking out—responsibly, evidence-based, and in ways that amplify community voices rather than replace them. Forecasted Africa engages in advocacy to address the root causes of inequality, exclusion, and environmental vulnerability affecting marginalized communities in Arusha District.
Our approach to speaking out is grounded in facts, lived experience, and constructive dialogue, not confrontation or partisanship.
What We Speak Out On
We focus our advocacy on issues directly linked to our work and evidence from the communities we serve, including:
- Equitable access to safe water and sanitation, with particular attention to underserved rural and peri-urban communities
- Climate resilience for smallholder farmers and pastoralist communities, especially in the face of increasing climate-related shocks
- Human rights, dignity, and inclusion, ensuring that marginalized voices are heard in development planning and service delivery
- Accountability and transparency in policies and practices that affect community well-being and natural resources
- Inclusive and appropriate technology, promoting solutions that are locally relevant, affordable, and sustainable
- We do not advocate on issues where we lack experience, community mandate, or evidence.
How We Speak Out
Forecasted Africa uses responsible and ethical advocacy methods designed to inform, influence, and improve outcomes without exposing communities to harm.
Our advocacy includes:
- Community-led evidence gathering and documentation
- Research, learning briefs, and policy-relevant insights
- Dialogue with local authorities, duty bearers, and development actors
- Public awareness and knowledge-sharing grounded in verified data
- Amplifying community perspectives through respectful and consent-based storytelling
- We prioritize collaboration over confrontation and seek solutions that strengthen systems rather than undermine trust.
What We Do Not Do
To maintain integrity, safety, and effectiveness, Forecasted Africa does not:
- Engage in partisan political activity or election campaigning
- Speak on behalf of communities without their informed consent
- Use advocacy that incites conflict, misinformation, or harm
- Make claims that cannot be supported by evidence or experience
- Speaking out responsibly means knowing when to speak, how to speak, and when to listen.
Why Speaking Out Matters
Silence can reinforce inequality. However, irresponsible advocacy can also cause harm. Forecasted Africa balances these realities by ensuring that our voice is measured, credible, and accountable.
By speaking out, we aim to:
- Improve policy and practice at local and institutional levels
- Strengthen accountability to communities
- Ensure development responses are inclusive, just, and sustainable
- Contribute to long-term, systemic change beyond individual projects
