Our Purpose

Forecasted Africa exists to strengthen inclusive, evidence-driven, and community-led development across Africa by ensuring that decisions affecting people’s lives are informed by data, local knowledge, and accountability.

At its core, Forecasted Africa’s purpose is to bridge the gap between communities, evidence, and decision-makers. Across many development sectors, communities are often the least consulted despite being the most affected. Local assessments and community engagements consistently indicate that more than half of community members have limited access to clear information on development plans, public resources, or mechanisms for feedback. Forecasted Africa responds to this gap by supporting processes that make information accessible, participation meaningful, and institutions more responsive.

Forecasted Africa works to generate and translate research into practical insights that improve planning, implementation, and learning. By combining community-based data collection, applied research, and dialogue platforms, the organization helps transform lived experiences into evidence that can guide policies, programs, and investments across sectors such as education, environmental sustainability, governance, public services, and social development.

Another central purpose of Forecasted Africa is to promote accountability and transparency in development systems. When communities are equipped with information and tools to engage constructively, reporting, follow-up, and collective action improve. Evidence from participatory initiatives shows that community involvement can increase responsiveness and continuity of local initiatives by an estimated 20–30 percent, contributing to more sustainable outcomes.

Ultimately, Forecasted Africa’s purpose is to support development pathways where communities are not passive beneficiaries, but informed partners and co-creators of solutions.
